1. Introduction

Welcome to Durga Bhakti ("we," "our," or "us"), a free devotional application developed by Samroid Apps. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Durga Bhakti mobile application handles your information.

In short: your activity and preferences stay on your device. The only information that leaves your device is anonymous crash and diagnostic data, which is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics to help us find and fix bugs. We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, contacts, location, or the content of your prayers. By using Durga Bhakti, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Data Stored Only on Your Device

The app saves the following on your device (using your device's local storage) so it can remember your progress and preferences. This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us or anyone else:

  • App activity: Reading counters and prayer progress
  • Preferences: Theme, language selection, font size, prayer language, transliteration and auto-scroll settings
  • Reminder settings: Whether daily reminders are enabled and the time you choose
  • Your chant audio: Recordings you make in the Japa Counter and audio files you add from your phone. They are copied into the app's private folder, are never uploaded, and are deleted when you delete them in the app or uninstall the app
  • Japa audio settings: Which clip is selected, the gap between repeats and your repeat target

2.2 Crash and Diagnostic Data (Firebase Crashlytics)

To keep the app stable, we use Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes or encounters an error, Crashlytics automatically sends a diagnostic report to Google on our behalf. This report may include:

  • The type of crash or error and a stack trace (technical details of what went wrong)
  • Your device model, operating system version, and app version
  • A random, app-generated installation identifier (Crashlytics Installation UUID) and the approximate time of the crash

This data is used only to diagnose and fix problems. It is not linked to your name or identity, is not used for advertising, and never includes your audio. It may include short technical notes about recent actions in the Japa audio feature (for example, that a clip was saved or how many repeats a session ran) to help us understand a crash. Crashlytics is provided by Google; see Google's Firebase Privacy and Security and Google Privacy Policy for details on how they handle this data.

2.3 We Do Not Collect Personal Data

Aside from the anonymous crash data described above, Durga Bhakti does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Personal identifiers such as your name, email address, or phone number
  • Advertising IDs or cross-app tracking identifiers
  • Behavioural or usage analytics
  • Location data or GPS coordinates
  • Contacts, photos, videos, or other media from your device
  • Financial or payment information (the app is completely free with no ads and no in-app purchases)

The app has no user accounts and no login, and your prayer activity and preferences never leave your device.

2.4 If You Contact Us

If you choose to email us for support, we will receive the email address and any information you include in your message. We use this only to respond to you and do not use it for any other purpose.

2.5 Microphone

The app asks for microphone permission only when you tap Record in the Japa Counter, so you can chant in your own voice. The microphone is used only while you are recording. The recording is saved only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can refuse or withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

3. How Your Information Is Used

Because your data stays on your device, it is used only by the app on your device to:

  • Provide core features: Show reading counters and prayer progress
  • Personalize your experience: Remember your theme, language, font size, and other preferences
  • Deliver reminders: Schedule local prayer-reminder notifications on your device, only if you enable them

Daily reminders are generated locally on your device by the app. They are not sent from a server, and setting a reminder does not transmit any information to us.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

All of your app data (preferences, reading counters, and reminder settings) is stored locally on your device using its standard app storage. We have no access to it, and there is no cloud sync or backup to our servers. The only exception is the anonymous crash and diagnostic data described in Section 2.2, which is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics.

4.2 Security

Your app data is protected by your device's own operating-system security and app sandboxing. Crash data sent to Firebase Crashlytics is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored on Google's infrastructure under Google's security practices. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a screen lock to protect the information stored on it.

4.3 Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove all app data at any time by uninstalling the app, or by clearing the app's data/storage in your device settings.

Japa audio recordings and added audio files are kept in the app's private storage until you delete them in the Japa Counter or uninstall the app. They are not included in device backups.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to anyone. The only data shared with a third party is the anonymous crash and diagnostic data described in Section 2.2, which is processed by Google (Firebase Crashlytics) solely to help us diagnose and fix problems. We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or a valid governmental request. If you contact us by email, we use your message only to respond and do not share it.

6. Third-Party Services

Durga Bhakti uses one third-party service: Google Firebase Crashlytics, for crash and stability reporting as described in Section 2.2. Its use of data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security and Google Privacy Policy.

The app does not include advertising or behavioural-tracking software. It may contain links that open external websites or app stores (for example, to rate the app or visit our website) in your browser. Those third-party sites are not operated by us and are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

7. Children's Privacy

Our application is suitable for users of all ages. The app does not ask for or collect personal information such as names, contacts, or location from anyone, including children. The only data collected is the anonymous crash and diagnostic information described in Section 2.2, which is not used to identify any individual. We do not knowingly use this data to identify or profile children. If you are a parent or guardian and have any questions, please contact us.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You are always in full control of your information because it lives only on your device:

  • Access & Portability: Your data is on your device and under your control at all times
  • Deletion: Delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in your device settings
  • Opt-Out of Reminders: Turn daily reminders on or off at any time in the app's settings

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Since we do not hold your personal data on any server, most such requests are satisfied directly by managing the app on your device. If you have questions, contact us using the details below.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page and within the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the app after changes are made constitutes acceptance of those changes.

12. This Website

In addition to the app, this section explains how the Durga Bhakti website (durgabhakti.samroid.com), which describes the app and links to it on Google Play, handles information.

  • No account, forms or cookies: The website has no sign-up, login or contact forms, and it does not set cookies.
  • No advertising or analytics: The website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking scripts. Its fonts, images and scripts are served from the website itself, not from third-party services.
  • Preferences in your browser: If you choose a light or dark appearance, or try the japa mala demo, that choice and the demo count are saved in your browser's local storage on your device only. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
  • Server logs: Like any website, our hosting and content-delivery providers automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in order to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. We do not use this data to identify you.
  • External links: Links on the website to Google Play, WhatsApp or email open those services, which are governed by their own privacy policies.
