Introduction
The Shri Durga Saptashati is the part of the Markandeya Purana also known as the Devi Mahatmya or Chandi Path. Its seven hundred shlokas sing the glory of Maa Durga.
The story is told in three episodes (charitras): the slaying of Madhu and Kaitabha in the first, of Mahishasura in the middle, and of Shumbha, Nishumbha and their army in the last. It is recited especially during Navratri.
Order of recitation
Every part is in exactly the order in which it is recited. Chapters are listed with their shloka counts.
